Top US Angel Investor says size of seed funding needs to increase

Here in the Louisville market there are several certified Angel investor groups. The mystery is how do everyday people who are tinkering with the idea of starting a business approach an Angel Investor group. I have solved the mystery. My group at 800-Get-Nick has built relationships directly with directors of local Angel groups and a number of Venture Capital groups in town and around the country. What we hang our hat on is the unique ability to sit down with potential business owners, entrepreneurs, inventors, and be able to decipher whether  your idea is a viable business and where we can get your funding. Our consultations are free. We are very flexible. We can give you the information your are seeking and/or build out your entire business model, or something in between. We are well versed in many industries and have helped dozens of individuals and groups figure out what they have, “there idea or invention” and build a business around it. We have a strategically selected team to help with business law, accounting, HR, marketing, sales, raising capital, patent attorneys, web developers, social media groups. We have virtually the ability to solve every single problem you might run into starting your business. Give the experts a call. We really do enjoy hearing everyone’s idea. Here is a great article, http://www.siliconrepublic.com/start-ups/item/26506-top-us-angel-investor-says , about some exciting news around Angel Funding. Workman to retire from fair board

Business First article. http://tiny.cc/m04kbw. Great…I strongly believe we need more leadership and forward thinking board members. From what I understand, the Govern appoints its board members. I certainly hope Govern Beshear listened real hard to the thought provoking address that keynote speaker, Jeffrey R. Immelt, Chairman and CEO of General Electric, gave at GLI’s Annual Meeting earlier this week. We need visionaries, strong minded, passionate leaders to push the boundaries of possibilities to serve on these immensely important board positions.  I understand that time tested relationships carry some weight when appointing these positions. But the good ole boy network has Kentucky way behind the rest of the county when it comes to innovation and zealous.   Let us get away from the standard practice of appointing your standard CEO of a Accounting Firm you’ve been friends with since you were in Catholic School together and select driven leaders to push the boundaries on being the NEXT breakthrough city. Louisville is “Possibility City”.  Empower a culture of bright creative people willing to make innovation happen.

Open that Door!!!

Never miss the opportunity to open a door.  You just never know who/what is on the other side.  You just might like it… Last night I went to a @GLIchamber ribbon cutting ceremony and met Jennifer Hoffman‏ @JenMarieHoffman, ESPNU Analyst, Winner of The Amazing Race 18, UofL Alum.  We happen to know a lot of the same people but never had the opportunity to meet each other in person before. So naturally it was an easy conversation for me to start, but at the same time it was awesome to chat UofL Volleyball, Hoops and “Parenting”…Congrats again!!!! with a Celebrity.  You Never know!!!

At the same time, Last night it was rather frustrating…I left the office at 5:00 to get to the Ribbon Cutting that was at 5:30.  The location of the ribbon cutting was only 10-12 miles from my office.  Unfortunately,I got stuck in heavy traffic and by the time I found the place, the invitation didn’t have a suite number, I was 15 minutes late. But that didn’t matter to me I’m going to open that door.  Most people would of let it get the best out of them and say “forget it”.  That’s not me.  Even though I was technically late, I still got to meet the owners of the new business, DaVita Dialysis. http://www.davita.com, in Shelbyville Road Plaza, and they gave me a tour.  The business owner’s were ecstatic that a bunch of folks from GLI where they to support their Grand Opening.  And then by opening that door and sticking to my guns I got to have “that” conversation with Ms. Hoffman!!! Thanks again for being so nice and engaging.  You never know, so, Open that Door!!!

Best regards,
